“The Splash Program at Del Mar Academy was an invaluable experience for Ruby and Gus. The teachers were amazing - kind, patient and fun, which made the Spanish immersion effortless. They loved feeding the goats, field trips to the grocery store to learn foods, surf and swimming club and participating in the Talent show, among many other things. It was difficult to leave such a wonderful, nurturing environment. We will most definitely return for another session of the Splash Program in the fall - unless we decide to move and enroll year-round!”

“We've been vacationing in Nosara for the past couple of years, enjoying the untouched natural beauty of the area. We are so excited that the Academy del Mar has opened its doors to their students. We hope that our children, Joey, Catalina, and Nicky Badilla, will be among them one day. We would like to express how happy we are that we have enrolled them in the Splash program for February 2011.
The children love everything - beautiful grounds, the gardens and farm animals, light filled classrooms, and the very warm and friendly environment and lovely people. From the minute we walked in Jessica made sure that our children felt at home. They looked forward for each new day of the program. Learning Spanish was fun and at the same time very thoughtfully structured. They improved their vocabulary and conversational skills significantly.
All the homework we brought with us was completed perfectly. They had their reading time, and enjoyed books from the library. The trip to the local supermarket was a big and exciting event. The children had to read their shopping lists in Spanish and then find their way around, asking people if necessary, where to find the items on the list. It was a great exercise and they were very proud when the shopping bags were full and mission accomplished!
We felt sad that our trip was only two weeks long. As soon as we returned home to Sag Harbor, NY, we had our children prepare a presentation in their Stella Maris Regional School about the experiences of learning Spanish in the Splash Program.
We highly recommend this program to anyone, who is visiting Nosara with children and interested in them learning Spanish. We are looking forward to our next visit. Many thanks to Jessica Sheffield, Anna Rita Wentworth, Yohanka and everybody who worked on creating Splash.
With much love and appreciation”,

“We wanted to thank you for the tremendous experience at Del Mar Academy. I am amazed at how much Spanish my nine year old learned. The Splash program is well-organized and a gentle environment for new students. My daughter is about as shy as they come and she absolutely LOVED it! We definitely will be back! Thank you, thank you for offering the Splash program!”
