Del Mar Academy opened its doors in September 2007.
Our campus is comprised of 7.1 private acres and is surrounded by nature.
We are fully accredited by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education, and the only accredited private school in the Nosara district.
We currently hold a 3 STARS BLUE FLAG, which is the highest distinction possible for the national "Blue Flag" eco-label.
Classes commence in September and finish in July.
Our educational philosophy is to follow the Montessori curriculum with a progressive education transition once the children reach 4th grade.
Our programs accommodate students from the ages/grades of 16 months to the sixth grade.
DMA provides a bilingual education.
Many parent and community led committees such as the ‘Scholarship,’ ‘Environmental,’ and ‘Community Service’, committees enhance the DMA experience.
The students can participate in several Extra Curricular Activities including Surf Club, Soccer Club, Swim Club, and Baseball Club.
All DMA teachers hold a Teaching Certificate from Costa Rica or the United States.
82% of our faculty and staff are fully bilingual.
Each program includes a Spanish speaking teacher as well as an English speaking teacher.
Three of our teachers, as well as our Principal, have a Masters within the discipline of education.
Three of our teachers are fully Montessori Certified and two of our teachers have Montessori on-line
training.
We have a Special Education educator on our staff.
15 nations are represented within the DMA student and staff body.
20% of our students are sponsored either privately or through our scholarship program.
Del Mar Academy has 9 Board Members.
There have been numerous animals born at our animal farm in the past 12 months. The children have enjoyed seeing many baby chicks and sheep throughout the year.
DMA plans to open an accredited high school (grades 7-12) in the future. Seventh grade will open September 2012.
