ANNA RITA PERGOLIZZI WENTWORTH (Head of School)
Is currently completing a Master of Education (Ed.M.) in Educational Leadership Studies at Columbia University, Teachers College. Prior to working on her degree, Anna Rita spent two years in Nosara as Del Mar Academy’s educational consultant and head of school.
Anna Rita attended Middlebury College where she double majored in Russian and Sociology/Anthropology. She was then accepted into Teach for America (“TFA”). As a TFA corps member, she was based in Newark, New Jersey as an elementary school teacher and attained her K-5 teaching certificate at Seton Hall University. In addition to her teaching experience in Newark, Anna Rita spent several years teaching English to native Russian speakers in Siberia, Russia; has mentored at-risk high school students from NYC; has recruited for TFA throughout the New England, USA region; has helped teach a distance learning class on educational leadership to masters and doctoral students at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey; and has consulted several start-up NYC charter schools on issues pertaining to curriculum development.
YOHANKA GONZÁLEZ GONZÁLEZ (Business Administrator)
Is currently enrolled in a Masters of Education Administration program through UNED University, San Jose. She left her island home of Cuba nearly ten years ago and has been living in Costa Rica ever since. Shortly after being incorporated into the Costa Rican Attorneys Bar Association she started her own practice. This flourishing practice has been put on hiatus so that she can enjoy the tranquility, beauty, and lovely community of Nosara. Since joining Del Mar Academy, Ms. Yohanka has been devoted to the challenges and daily operations of a school environment. She enjoys working with the children, families and staff of DMA and is looking forward to continuing as our School Administrator.
AMELIA GÓMEZ SEGURA (Ministry of Education Consultant)
Ms. Amelia has a Bachelors of Arts in Letters, Arts and Sciences and Bachelors degree in Spanish Philology. She attained her 1-6 grade teaching certificate at UNED University, and has worked for more than 15 years as a teacher and principal in the Costa Rican public school system. Prior to joining Del Mar Academy, Ms. Amelia taught Spanish in a private school in Nosara. At Del Mar Academy, Ms. Amelia taught Spanish and Social Studies, and presently serves as coordinator and supervisor of our academic department. Her hobbies are reading and walking at the beach.
