ANNA RITA PERGOLIZZI WENTWORTH (Head of School)
Anna Rita holds a Master of Education (Ed.M.) in Educational Leadership Studies from Columbia University, Teachers College. Prior to working on her degree, Anna Rita spent two years in Nosara as Del Mar Academy’s upper elementary math teacher, educational consultant and interim Head of School.
Anna Rita attended Middlebury College where she double-majored in Russian and Sociology/Anthropology. After receiving her degree, she was accepted into Teach for America (“TFA”) and attained her teaching certificate at Seton Hall University. She spent several years as an elementary teacher in Newark, New Jersey. In addition to her teaching experience in Newark, Anna Rita taught English to native Russian speakers in Siberia, Russia; mentored at-risk high school students from NYC; recruited for TFA throughout the New England, USA region; and helped teach a distance learning class on educational leadership to masters and doctoral students at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey.
ELENA GONZALEZ ATKINSON (Business Administrator)
Ms. Gonzalez has a MBA degree from the Universidad Internacional de Las Americas in San José, Costa Rica. She worked for 12 years in different Costa Rican companies. After 12 years of experience, she started her own small business. She now coaches medium and small companies in strategic planning, budget and analyzing small commercial investment options and marketing. She has found her new business venture very fulfilling for it enables her to work at a different pace allowing her to share more time with her family. She loves the dynamic at Del Mar Academy and hopes that each constituent’s goals are met –students, parents, teachers and the community.
AMELIA GÓMEZ SEGURA (Ministry of Education Consultant)
Ms. Amelia has a Bachelors of Arts in Letters, Arts and Sciences and Bachelors degree in Spanish Philology. She attained her 1-6 grade teaching certificate at UNED University, and has worked for more than 15 years as a teacher and principal in the Costa Rican public school system. Prior to joining Del Mar Academy, Ms. Amelia taught Spanish in a private school in Nosara. At Del Mar Academy, Ms. Amelia taught Spanish and Social Studies, and presently serves as coordinator and supervisor of our academic department. Her hobbies are reading and walking at the beach.
MERLIN VARGAS BONILLA (Secretary)
Merlin is finishing her Business Administration degree with a major in accounting and publicity at San José University. She loves mathematics and learning new things every day. She has lived in Nosara for 4 years. She considers Nosara a beautiful place with a large diversity of flora and fauna. She is grateful with Del Mar Academy because she has grown personally and professionally. In her free time she likes to read and walk.
